David S. Daquil
Mr. Daquil is the Director of the Melican Middle School 6th grade Concert Band. His duties at the middle school also include directing the Stage Band, coaching chamber ensembles, co-directing the Honors Wind Ensemble, and assisting Mr. Ferguson with the 7th grade band program.
Mr. Daquil graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1990 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While at Berklee he studied woodwinds with Joseph Viola and arranging with Herb Pomeroy and Robert Freedman.
Mr. Daquil remains very active professionally. He continues to teach privately and is an active freelance musician throughout New England. He has performed with Gladys Knight and the Pips, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Thayer Symphony Orchestra, and the Reagle Players to name a few and has recorded three cds with Artie Barsamian and the Boston Big Band.
As a member of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association, Mr. Daquil has served as an adjudicator/clinician. Currently, he is the chairperson of the Central District I.A.J.E. for the high school festival.
