Algonquin Regional High School Choruses

Chamber Choir – Gr 10, 11, 12

This is a selective chorus of sixteen member mixed chorus who have the highest performance standards. Music literature studied will include choral music for most all eras and musical styles including vocal jazz. An intensive audition is required and attendance at all performances is required. There are frequent community concert appearances as well as attendance at choral festivals. Each Chamber Choir student also performs and rehearses with Concert Choir and fulfills all Concert Choir obligations. After school rehearsals are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the choir room. After school rehearsals are mandatory.

Camerata Singers - Grades 10, 11, 12

This is a twenty-four member chorus of select female singers who are interested in a challenging vocal music experience. An intensive audition is required, and there are very strict attendance requirements for rehearsals and performances. Students must be prepared to learn their music on their own and attend sectionals once a week in addition to the normal class. Sectional rehearsals are held in the morning from 6:45-7:15 a.m. in the chorus room.

Concert Choir - Grades 10, 11, 12

Concert Choir is a large performing organization open to all voice ranges. This course prepares special programs for school and public performances. Members are given the opportunity to experience a wide range of challenging music including spirituals, multi-cultural music, vocal jazz, and standard choral literature. Concerts are frequent and attendance is required at all concerts. Occasional after school rehearsal may be required.

Chorale - Grades 9 and 10

Chorale is a large ensemble of students wishing to strengthen their vocal technique. This course prepares special programs for school and public performances. Members are given the opportunity to experience many styles of choral music. Concerts are frequent and attendance is required at all concerts. Occasional after school rehearsal may be required.

The A-Gents - Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

This is a gentlemen's ensemble made up of guys that enjoy singing many styles of music. The A-Gents meet after school on Wednesday from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the choir room. Students must be prepared to learn their music on their own. Enrollment in a curricular choral ensemble is not necessary, but it is highly encouraged.

A-Cappella Choir - Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Is a "student run" select vocal ensemble of advanced singers. Musical selections typically consist of contemporary popular tunes that are usually accompanied by vocal percussion. Enrollment in a curricular music ensemble is required.
